Nathan Watermeier, OSU Extension Technology Program Leader and conference chair said, "the purpose of the conference was to pull together people in Ohio who have used geospatial technologies and have showed them to be successful in agricultural and natural resource applications." New use of geospatial technology helps farmers manage their land. Ohio State's Nathan Watermeier (Program Leader, Technology, Ohio State University Extension) is helping farmers and all Ohioans with a new use of geospatial technologies. Watermeier and others are working with systems which allow farmers to manage their land and crops more accurately. With this technology, farmers can efficiently apply the right amount of fertilizer and other applications the crops need. This saves money and also helps the environment by limiting excess chemical run-off in our streams and lakes. more...
